The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings[]

Grapeshot, otherwise known as the Beehive Bomb, is a bomb in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings that can be crafted from a formula purchased as early as Chapter I. On Roche's path, they can also be purchased from the merchant Sambor outside the Kaedweni brothel during Chapter II.

Journal entry[]

While Alfred Nabel's most important invention failed to find broad application, it proved splendid as the basis for the Grapeshot bomb, a highly democratic explosive that wounds everyone within range, whether human or monster.
The Grapeshot is effective against nearly all creatures, except perhaps the most powerful.

Trivia[]

  • The mentioned gnome Alfred Nabel is a not so subtle reference to Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[]

Grapeshot returns as a bomb in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and functions like a conventional grenade in combat, as it deals a chunk of damage with a little fire damage, and chips a considerable amount of Stamina from shield-bearing enemies in one hit. It can also be used to destroy monster nests. Up to two grapeshots can be placed in a pocket at one time.

Geralt already has the formula to make it at the start of the main quest Lilac and Gooseberries. If upgraded though, another stack of this basic version can be obtained at the end of the secondary quest Following the Thread, if the witcher chooses to kill Jad Karadin who will drop them, allowing you to have three more charges between replenishments.
