From what I can remember Lara Dorren was the product of extensive selective breeding, though all that went down the drain when she fell in love with Cregennan of Lod and conceived a child with him. The Elder Blood was passed down through generations to people like Falka and Ciri.
Most of the books have now been translated into English now, with only Season of Storms yet to come out in May this year. You can pick them up on Amazon, or even in most bookshops now so far as I am aware. The reading order would be;
The Last Wish (Short story collection)
The Sword of Destiny (Short story collection)
Season of Storms (Though from what I've read it is not imperative to read as a part of the Saga, as it takes place between short stories in the collections)
The Blood of Elves
Times of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
The Tower of the Swallow
The Lady of the Lake
I'd highly recommend the novels if you are interested in learning more about the world of The Witcher :)
So far as I am aware you cannot transfer your saves cross-platform from The Witcher, to The Witcher 2, however I believe that the default world state in TW2 is that Geralt followed the neutral path, romanced Triss, and killed Adda in the crypt in Chapter V. However, as RenD1995 said, you can start a fresh game in TW3 without importing, and the game allows you to fill in the blanks for the decisions you made in the second game :)
