It’s good to write the ending first, then work on the rest of the story. Only then by rereading what you’ve written can you be allowed to rewrite the ending differently.
Having a direction and a desired outcome is a great thing, however it could be limiting with the overall story. If you leave it open ended you’ll be able to go in many different directions throughout the story
It seems to me that it's already all there for the Show. They just do their own variation on it. So far for me it's been sometimes better than the books, sometimes not, but nice to see regardless.
