The books mention an offscreen war called the War of the Two Unicorns. Little is revealed about it, save that it was very bloody and that both factions used a Unicorn banner. Given that the ruling dynasty of Kaedwen is called the Unicorn dynasty, many have assumed that the war is fought between two members of the dynasty, making likely a Kaedweni civil war. Well, I think I know how this could translate into a 4th game, if one is ever made.
With King Hensalt dead(good riddance), and having no male heirs, the future of Kaedwen is uncertain. It's mentioned that his deceased son married, so it's plausible that the deceased prince fathered at least one child. But since it states that Hensalt has no MALE heirs, it's most likely that if the Prince fathered a child, it was likely a daughter. And it's same to assume like most Witcher monarchies, Kaedwen's succession syste, is patriarchal. Other biological candidates could include any bastard children Hensalt fathered himself. But as we all know, bastards have no claim unless there are no other potential heirs. Or maybe it's a war fought between two bastards.
So now Kaedwen is faced with a huge succession war fought between at least one bastard who's somehow managed to gain support for his claim, and Hensalt's grandaughter. The next question is, what's their character? If this was a plot point in a 4th game, would you take a side? Or would you let them both burn out?
What would you do to solve the issue of succession in Kaedwen if you were a writer for a 4th game?
