Disambig icon This article is about the character from the novels. For the character from The Hexer movie and TV series, see Adela (witcher). For the member of the Redanian Free Company, see Adela (Wild One).

Adela was one of the three children, later known as the Houtborg triplets, born when Riannon, queen of Temeria, was imprisoned by Falka. After Falka died, none, including Riannon, who went insane, knew which of the three children were Riannon's twins and which was Falka's. The sorcerers summoned by King Goidemar found out that Adela was Falka's daughter,[1] but they told the king that they weren't able to determine which child was Falka's, to avoid a scandal and an execution of a 2-year old child. Therefore, she was brought up together with Fiona and Amavet.

During an outbreak of the Black Death she helped priests in a hospital and died from it at the age of seventeen. Her body was burned alongside the other victims of the plague. After her death, King Goidemar visited the hospital and gave it the name of Adela and arranged a monument of his daughter.

In one of the Viziman temples she was worshiped as an incarnation of the goddess Melitele for a period of time.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 Later information dug up by Fenn would suggest that Fiona was actually Falka's daughter, not Adela. However, it's never clarified what is true.
