Ancient Oak is a tree located south of Downwarren in Velen. The area surrounding it is feared by most of the local populace due to its history of dark rituals.
The Ancient Oak is a centuries old oak tree growing on a small hill, under which lies a system of caves that is the resting place of the Ghost in the Tree. Many winding paths lead to the Oak from all directions, and the tree is somewhat separated from the rest of the surrounding forest by a clearing.
The hillock on which the Oak grows is colloquially known as the Whispering Hillock due to the Ghost in the Tree continuously emitting a heartbeat-like sound from underneath it.
