Argentia is a blade oil in The Witcher. Witchers coat their silver blades with Argentia, which increases the effectiveness of silver, but weakens steel blades. Damage inflicted is increased by 60% for silver swords, but reduced if the oil is applied to a steel sword.

Silver brings ruin to all beasts, but even a brave knight bearing a silver blade may not have the strength to defeat the most dreadful monsters. There is a way, though, to awaken the spirit of a silver sword - by using the moon oil known as Argentia.

Tips

• While inferior to other oils, Argentia will boost the damage against any enemy, making it very useful when roaming or fighting groups of enemies that are of mixed species.
• There are also enemies that do not belong to any category and thus are not effected by any specific oil, in such a case Argentia is the only oil that will increase the damage against them. These enemies are:
  • Echinops
  • Archespore
  • Drowner
  • Drowned dead
  • Bloedzuiger
