Arthur de Vleester (Polish: Artur de Vleester) was a sorcerer who was once the lover of Philippa Eilhart.
Biography[]
After escaping from Loc Muinne with her life, Philippa came to Novigrad seeking help from de Vleester. Because she had made a fool of him in the past, he desired revenge and convinced her that she would be safest in her owl form. After she transformed, de Vleester placed a dimeritium band on her leg, which prevented her from using polymorphism or any other magic to escape. Shortly after, the mage hunts began and de Vleester fell victim to them. His estate was auctioned off, and the dwarf Zoltan Chivay purchased the owl, unaware that it was actually Eilhart.
De Vleester was imprisoned in 1272, on the 5th of Birke, at Oxenfurt's Deireadh prison, on charges of using magic. Five days later, he admitted his guilt and was sentenced to death by pyre. He was burned at the stake the following day.
Notes[]
- Philippa mentioned her plans to see de Vleester in Novigrad in a conversation she had via megascope with Margarita Laux-Antille. If Geralt gets the help of Yennefer or Triss Merigold to replay the conversation, using the megacope crystal he finds in Philippa's hideout during the quest Redania's Most Wanted, he will recognize de Vleester's name. If he did not, Geralt will comment that he suspects the relationship did not end happily instead.
