Attre is a duchy and vassal state to the Northern Kingdom of Cintra, just south of the capital city of Cintra. Even after Cintra was conquered by Nilfgaard, Attre remained Cintra's vassal.
Although it is near the sea, the climate is arid and the territory is mostly desert.

Coats of arms
The coat of arms for Attre is not actually described in the novels. The current and second particular coats of arms were designed by our resident heraldry and Witcher expert Mboro and the drawing was part of the Czech's site. The imperial version of Mboro's COA appears also on a card of Rainfarn in the Nilfgaardian Empire Gwent deck.
