Bartolomé de Launay was the owner of Villa Vedette, a villa in Toussaint, and also an armorer. In 1274, the count made a deal with the witcher Lexandre for the witcher to give the count Grandmaster Feline Gear diagrams in exchange for the count crafting him a full set of ducal armor and giving him a sack of coins. When they met they were both killed by Antoine Straggen at the Arthach Palace, who the Count had originally hired to protect him. His death was unknown by the populace of Toussaint so he was classified as missing in 1275, so by order of the treasury minister, there was a clerk assigned to be caretaker of the villa.
