Berit was a young woman who lived with her mother Ingma in the forests of Ekerot's isle sometime during the 13th century.[1]

Biography[]

Berit's mother was a keen hunter, and raised her daughter thusly, though was cruel; Ingma would capture the older wolves and snare them together, starving the creatures until they had no option except to kill each other to eat. At some point, she and her daughter happened upon the witcher Geralt of Rivia being attacked by a pack of wolves on the shores of the isle while hunting. As the pair were hunting the beasts regardless for their pelts, Berit's mother shot them with her bow and the two carried the witcher to refuge in their family home.

The following day, Ingma instructed her daughter to ride to Jarl Ekerot's settlement, to inform him of the witcher's arrival on the isle. As she rode through the forests, she was ambushed by the local guerrilla leader, Colm Coimeádaí's, men and taken to their forested hideout. After a short while, she was brought before Colm and Geralt, who was there partly as their prisoner, partly for his aid, and used as blackmail to convince the witcher to aid them.

Shortly after, when Geralt had agreed to help deceive Ekerot by returning one of Colm's men, the guerrilla leader led Berit to his location in the forest, where his men slaughtered the remaining guards. As the witcher stated he could not decide neutralities while Berit's life was held in the balance, Colm let her go and so the two left. As they walked back toward's Berit's house, the girl berated Geralt for his decision to not fight Colm, as she had learnt of her mother's death at his men's hands. As he made clear he didn't want to kill anyone, she grew angry and shot him in the back with a crossbow, knocking him unconscious. She took him to Ekerot, who locked the witcher in the dungeons for deception and working with Colm.

When the witcher awoke, Ekerot explained that Berit had told him everything, before silencing her when she flew into a rage again at the witcher. Ekerot and Berit, along with a handful of guards, went to prepare for Colm's arrival, knowing his now-free man would have lent information on infiltrating their holdfast. As they arrived in a dark and empty chamber, they came across Colm alone. The group charged him and as they swung, Colm leaped up in the air and kicked, breaking one man's neck and knocking the other to the floor and smashing their head with a heel kick. As Berit charged in, he leaped again and knocked her to the ground, biting her face off.[1]
