Black dragons are the largest and most resilient among their species,[1] measuring between 15 and 20 meters in length. These formidable creatures possess large wings and four powerful legs[2][3], each ending in razor-sharp claws. Black dragons primarily inhabit swamps and wetlands, spending much of their time basking in the mud. They are frequently encountered in the southern territories, particularly near the Nilfgaard and Gemmera regions.[3]
These dragons can emit streams of acid potent enough to corrode any armor,[2] inflicting wounds similar to those caused by mustard gas.[4] Their scales are reputed to be as tough as Mahakam steel, making them nearly impervious to conventional weapons. Hunting a black dragon with anything less than a ballista is considered futile, as ordinary projectiles merely bounce off their scales. Fortunately, black dragons are typically lethargic and not easily provoked.[3]
In some legends, the avatar of the Eastern god Baal-Zebuth is believed to have been a female black dragon.[5]
Notes[]
- The way they are described in Oko Yrrhedesa and Wiedźmin: Gra Wyobraźni, black dragons seem to be inspired by their D&D counterpart.
