Blunt crossbow bolt is an ammunition item in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that comes in 2 different forms:
Note that these bolts show damage as "bludgeoning."
Blunt crossbow bolt (crafted)[]
This craftable version can be purchased from the following merchants:
- Blacksmith in Oxenfurt
- Zoltan Chivay during The Battle of Kaer Morhen, if he is recruited
- Smith during the "Witcher" epilogue, if Redania wins the war
Some arbalist enemies may drop small stacks of these, particularly deserters in the bandit camps where the basic version is found are known to do so. A stack of 20, along with 5 of the master version, can also be found in the basement of an abandoned hut in Mulbrydale (the southeastern one).
Bugs[]
- The crafting screen will show these to have level 14 required, but any crafted blunt crossbow bolts will have a level requirement of 1. While not erroneous per se, "+8 Bludgeoning damage" will also be shown as an effect instead of the inherent base damage on the bolts, which actually ends up as "7-9 Bludgeoning damage".
Blunt crossbow bolt (basic)[]
Starting at level 6, this version can be purchased from the following merchants:
- Blacksmith in Arinbjorn
- Blacksmith at Kaer Trolde citadel
- Blacksmith in Oreton
- Blacksmith in Oxenfurt
- Éibhear Hattori in Novigrad
- Quartermaster in Crow's Perch
A stack of 5, along with 20 of the crafted version, can be found in the basement of an abandoned hut in Mulbrydale (the southeastern one). Stacks of 20 can be found in the following deserter bandit camps, where arbalists may also drop the crafted version:
- North of Marauders' Bridge
- Near Mowshurst (northeast of Lurtch)
- Hill between Lindenvale and Lurtch
- Far north of Road to Bald Mountain, on the coastline
Although very rare, 5-10 may also sometimes appear as random loot in containers otherwise reserved for rare alchemy and crafting components.
