Bodrog is a fortress in Verden, one of three strongholds on the border with Cintra along the north side of the Yaruga, the other two strongholds being Rozrog and Nastrog.[1]
History[]
Ervyll's reign[]
In 1263, after the Nilfgaardian Empire took the lands south of the Yaruga in the First Northern War, the three fortresses served as an "iron curtain", protecting King Ervyll and his kingdom if the Nilfgaardians chose to march north.[1]
In July 1267, after Ervyll's decision of fealty to Nilfgaard during the Second Northern War, the three fortresses were occupied by Imperial troops, and garrisons built in each.[2]
Trivia[]
- Bodrog is also the name of a Hungarian village, and a river shared with Slovakia.
