The Caldwells were a noble family from Rivia loyal to King Reginald and later to Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia. In 1267 however, at the beginning of the Second Northern War, Count Caldwell, the oldest member of the family alive during that period, organized a golpe, cooperating with Nilfgaardian General Ardal aep Dahy, which ended with Queen Meve's exile from her country and with the crowning of his son Villem, who took part in the golpe as well.

Queen Meve however had no intention to surrender without fightin, thus she started traveling through Aedirn, Mahakam and Angren building a new army in order to remove the invaders from her country.

Right in Angren, Meve finally defeated and killed Count Caldwell at Tuzla Castle.

Returned in Rivia, Queen Meve finally confronted Dragomir Caldwell, the family's heir and Count Caldwell's son, who immedi apologized for his father's crimes.

If Meve shows mercy: Meve showed mercy to what remained of the Caldwells and allowed them to remain in Rivia, provided that his family would have done a donation towards the war effort and fielded a infantry unit. Before going away, he also ordered to remove all the Nilfgaardian vessels from the Caldwells' residence.

If Meve doesn't show mercy: Despite Dragomir's apologies for his father's crimes, Meve ordered the Caldwells to leave Rivia. Before Meve's answer, Dragomir revealed to be a traitor just like his father and ordered his men to attack Queen Meve. In the end, Meve's troops managed to defeat the foes: Dragomir was killed while what remained of his family was escorted in Kaedwen to their relatives.
