Vassal states

A vassal state is a territory (usually a country/state) ruled over by a vassal who is a subordinate of another state. Vassal states typically supply military power to the dominant state and some pay tributes. They differ from protectorate states in the sense the latter usually enter such an agreement willingly and the dominant state provides military power in exchange for other interests.
