In The Witcher, Geralt must acquire many items and he cannot always afford to buy them from merchants. To this end, it is beneficial for him to enter all premises he can and rifle through any and all containers found therein for the supplies he needs.

In a sense, all creatures, human and otherwise are containers, as are many trees, shrubs and plants which bear the herbs required for alchemical potions. They will not be dealt with individually.

Containers in The Witcher

  • altars
  • barrels
  • baskets
  • bookcases
  • cheese (yep on some tables and shelves!)
  • chests (and old chests)
  • chicken (yep on some tables!)
  • clothing rack (only one found so far, in Act I)
  • coffers
  • crates
  • cupboards
  • laundry baskets
  • old shelves
  • sacks
  • skeletons
  • trunks (and old trunks)
  • wardrobes

The deceased, as containers

  • corpses (found human corpses, as opposed to the bodies of dead assailants)
  • remains (different from corpses in that Geralt is usually directly responsible for the death and they are not necessarily human)
