Draconid Instinct is a subquest in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

Walkthrough[]

After completing Spring Cleaning, you'll meet Brouver Hoog. Speak to him and Gabor Zigrin, and then head up the path to start this encounter.

Meve and her army encounter over a bridge Ferenc clan dwarves wheeling their weekly cartloads of offerings to the dragon Keltullis. One wagon is blocking all traffic, but is soon repaired by Xavier Lemmens. Meve can choose whether to take 100 gold as a reward, or not.

Further on the road, the warband meets the dragon itself, which, despite assurances of the dwarves that it has been a good neighbor for three hundred years, is burning down The Hag's Pit. If Eyck of Denesle is in the party he will charge the dragon on sight, you can choose to fight with him, prompting the Fury of Keltullis battle, or leave him to his fate, making you lose the knight.

After the battle Keltullis flees, and the Ferenc leader, Vavrinek, asks the queen to go finish the beast off before it can regenerate. You can then decide whether to pursue it or not. Once at Keltullis' lair, you can choose to hear it out or kill it outright.

If Meve hears her out: Keltullis complained of being poisoned, which intrigued Meve enough to hear the dragon out. It turned out Keltuills was a female dragon, as revealed by Ferenc dwarves coming in and smashing her eggs. They had only poisoned her (with the meat carried in the before-encountered convoy) and smashed her eggs because they feared having to supply more dragons and face a larger threat, a move quite appreciated by Eyck of Denesle. Angered by the dwarves smashing her eggs, and not being hit with enough poison to kill, Keltillus flew to the nearest town.
If Meve kills Keltullis: already awaiting her fate, Keltullis lay on the ground as Meve ended her life. Several of Meve's company seemed to object to ending the creatures life so quick. This gives you the Keltullis Trophy card, as well as 10,000 gold from the dragon's hoard.

After hearing her out:

If Meve follows and kills Keltullis: knowing how much of a threat the dragon posed and seeking justice for the previous massacre, Meve decided to finally kill Keltullis, with a strong cut to the stomach, ending the life of the last red dragon between the Great Sea and the Fiery Mountains. This gives you the Keltullis Trophy card, as well as 10,000 gold from the dragon's hoard.
If Meve lets Keltullis heal and leave Mahakam: angered at how the dwarves had treated the dragon, Meve allowed Keltullis to heal and leave Mahakam afterwards. You receive 10,000 gold from the dragon out of gratitude. This option makes Eyck of Denesle leave the party, as he's outraged that a monster should be allowed to be left alive.

Either sparing or killing the dragon gives you 10,000 gold (if you choose to fight her and then follow her to her lair), the most important consequence is then to either have Eyck of Denesle leave your party by sparing Keltullis, or to slay her and gain her trophy.
