Elemental essence is an alchemy ingredient in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is not needed for anything but can be dismantled into monster essence.
It is a guaranteed drop from the ice troll in Clan Tordarroch Forge, ice giants during Tedd Deireadh, The Final Age, and random drop from most elementa monsters:
