Black Brook Vale is a region in Mahakam which it is said to be cursed, as everyone who tired to settle there mysteriously died.
If Meve rescues Barnabas: In the end the mystery behind the death of all the inhabitants of the vale was solved by Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia and by her adjutant Barnabas Beckenbauer: Barnabas proved that all the water in the gale was poisoned by subterranean fumes. Hence, the gnome gifted the dwarves with an invention of his own making called the aquapurificator, which finally allowed the settlers to drink pure water and live in the vale.
