Galvalesteith was a white dragon that lived in the Dragon Mountains.
When groups of the Dauk and Wozgor peoples journeyed through the Dragon Mountains on their way to the Far North, they encountered the dragon. There are two main accounts of what happened next. According to scholars, Galvalesteith had bent the beasts of the mountain to her will and threatened the passing humans. To protect their people, the Druids among them slew the dragon and buried her body in the valley where she fell from the sky. After the burial, they witnessed a great oak sprout from the mound where she was laid to rest.
Another version of Galvalesteith's death is recounted in a documented interview with a druid from the Gwyn Carn Circle. According to the druid, Galvalesteith was a protective dragon who struck a pact with the Druids. She allowed the Dauk and Wozgor settlers to pass safely through the mountains on the condition that the druids would take care of the land. Later, when she died, the druids built a white burial mound in her honor, which gave their circle its name.
