Gardik or Gardic (Polish: Gardic) was the second king of Temeria, the son of Geddes and Vinifrida, and brother to Maria Pulcheria. He married Vulpia with whom he had one child, Goidemar.

In a typical royal union, he and Vulpia, princess of Brugge, were arranged to be married by their parents, though the young adults didn't want to. While Gardik treated Vulpia with decency and courtesy, he never accepted her as his wife and only fulfilled the royal obligations necessary to produce a son and successor to the throne, Goidemar. Therefore, it was no secret that Gardik looked for love elsewhere and had many trysts and affairs, but to his credit, he never allowed these to interfere with affairs of state.

His favorite and most famous lover was the beautiful Carezza Charbonneau. She was married in name to a marquis, but being a tactful man, he took great care "not to notice" her dalliances. A problem only surfaced when it became apparent that Carezza was pregnant. Since a bastard child, or even the suspicion of one, was intolerable, the marquise was banished. She gave birth to a girl while in exile and, according to rumors, very quickly packed the child off to the magical academy, Aretuza. That girl, through a lot of hard work, became known as Leticia Charbonneau, headmistress of the academy.[2]
