Gerard was the king of Kovir and the son of Gedovius and Gemma, as well as the last to carry the family name. He had five children: Anna, Alicja, and three unnamed sons, but they all tragically died except for Alicja.
He granted young Guido Thyssen a favor by giving him a title of Margrave of East March and, later, giving the hand of his youngest daughter Alicja to Edmund Thyssen.
