Griffin decoction is a potion in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that raises resistances by 1% each time Geralt is hit during combat, up to a maximum of 25%. The effect lasts until the end of battle.
Drinking a Griffin decoction by itself will not raise any resistance; only after you take your first hit in battle will resistances increase.

- The resistance will stack directly those from any other sources.
- This includes Protective Coating, which alone will provide up to 50% resistance against all 5 types of damage without any armor.
- Some armor sets like high tier Cat School Gear may provide +75% of resistance to a damage type (elemental), in which case the resistance can reach 100%. While damage will not be reduced to 0 it shall become so minute that it can be pretty much ignored even on Death March difficulty.
- Successful parries or "blocks" from Quen shield will not raise resistance. Damage taken per hit does not influence increase in resistance and does not influence armor.
