The chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is a domesticated fowl. One of the most common and widespread domestic animals, used by humans of Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaardian Empire primarily as a source of food - both their meat and their eggs are consumable.
Male chickens are called roosters (older than a year), capons (castrated males), or cockerel (young rooster); females are hens (older than a year) or pullets (younger ones). The young are called chicks.
