Henckel was a margrave in Novigrad who lived in a house near Hierarch Square and had been a patron of the arts when he was young.
In the winter of 1271, he died from a heart attack while visiting a brothel and "decked out in leather lingerie". Due to this embarrassing event, his family decided to hold the funeral in secret and not to communicate word of his death to other citizens of the city. However, a few well-informed people, like Sigismund Dijkstra, knew how and when he'd died.
