Ignatius Hale was a man from the Hale family and member of the Vigilantes.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Ignatius was born in a far-off corner of the Nilfgaardian Empire. As a child he was kicked in the head by a mule rendering him dimwitted and very easy to manipulate. Together with his mother and brother, he eventually moved to the Northern Kingdoms.
Witch Hunts[]
Some 300 years before the Witch hunts of 1272 to 1276, he worked with his family to hunt witches. He performed his duties with unwavering zeal. Due to his nature he was very easy to manipulate. A fact Octavia Hale made ample use of. Ignatius had a boundlessly good nature and would never harm anyone deliberately. So in order to ensure her son did as she wanted, she convinced him he truly was hunting genuine witches and punishing evil. As if he would realize he was putting innocent people on a pyre he would give up the ruse in a heartbeat.
Eventually news of the actions of the Hale family reached the sorceress Alissa Henson, who then put a stop to their witch hunts.
