Jocephus of Muroc was a accomplice of Vilgefortz of Roggeveen.

Biography[]

Trying to recruit Yennefer[]

As Yennefer tries to pass through an angry mob stationed outside of the Giancardi Bank, Jocephus impersonates Vilgefortz to grab her attention and lead her to a back alley. There, Jocephus reveals his true form to Yennefer, and instead of telling her where Vilgefortz is, he offers him the chance to join Vilgefortz's side, but she refuses. Right around the corner, Keira is fatally stabbed and Giancardi is slammed dead against his gate. Jocephus then told Yennefer that her friend's deaths were the consequence of rejecting Vilgefortz's offer and disappeared as Yennefer left.

Fringilla joining up with Vilgefortz[]

Stationed at the entrance of Vilgefortz's base, Jocephus warns his master that Fringilla has uninvitedly arrived. He then stands by and listens to Fringilla, who admits that Yennefer wanted her to kill Vilgefortz with an diminitrium dagger she had in her possession, but refuses as she wanted to join his side, the winning side.

Jocephus leads Fringilla to a room where Vilgefortz's proteges are tasked with channeling their Chaos into the monoliths, which was Vilgefortz's way of controlling the portals. To Jocephus' confession, it's a finite way to accomplish their task, but he snaps at Fringilla when she asks why they don't use the portals to locate Ciri. He confesses that they cannot after the fall of Tor Lara.

Vilgefortz arrives and chooses someone else to replace the protege who failed to meet his expectations. Against Jocephus' behest, she approaches him, and Jocephus is also locked in place by her magic. Fringilla chooses a suitable candidate for Vilgefortz, who impresses him. Before leaving the area, he requests that Jocephus keep an eye on Fringilla and undoes the spell cast on him.

Afterward, Fringilla communicating with Yennefer's group interrupts her, telling her that Vilgefortz wishes to speak with her.
