Keltullis was a red dragon that nested in Mahakam during the Second Northern War. She was the last red dragon in the Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaardian Empire.
Biography[]
For nearly a century, Keltullis clashed with the dwarves of the Ferenc Clan in Mahakam, resulting in both the dragon growing weary of the conflict and the dwarves realizing she wasn't leaving. Eventually, an agreement was formed: the Ferenc Clan would supply Keltullis with her weekly demands, and in return, Keltullis would leave them in peace. This truce lasted for two hundred years.[1]
In 1267, while Meve was in Mahakam with her army, she encountered Keltullis at The Hag's Pit, where the dragon was burning the town. Meve ordered her soldiers to douse their cloaks in water to add some protection against the fire. In the ensuing battle, dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of Lyrians lost their lives, either to the dragon's all-consuming flames or her flesh-rending claws. Ultimately, the Lyrians and dwarves managed to mortally wound Keltullis, forcing her to flee, howling in pain.
Keltullis retreated to her lair, and if Meve chose to pursue her, she found the dragon weak and dying inside the cave.
If Meve killed Keltullis: Keltullis, already awaiting her fate, lay on the ground as Meve ended her life. Several members of Meve's company objected to ending the creature's life so swiftly.
If Meve hears her out: Keltullis complained of being poisoned, which intrigued Meve enough to hear her out. It was revealed that Keltullis was a female dragon when Ferenc dwarves arrived and smashed her eggs. They had poisoned her and destroyed the eggs out of fear that they would have to supply more dragons and face a larger threat—a move that was appreciated by Eyck of Denesle. Enraged by the destruction of her eggs and not being fatally poisoned, Keltullis flew to the nearest town.
If Meve follows and kills Keltullis: Knowing the threat Keltullis posed and seeking justice for the previous massacre, Meve decided to finally kill the dragon with a strong cut to the stomach, ending the life of the last red dragon between the Great Sea and the Fiery Mountains.
If Meve lets Keltullis heal and leave Mahakam: Angered by the dwarves' treatment of the dragon, Meve allowed Keltullis to heal and leave Mahakam.
