Krakens are enormous sea monsters that can take entire boats, not just their occupants. In the short story "Trochę poświęcenia" ("A Little Sacrifice") a short story in Miecz przeznaczenia ("The Sword of Destiny"), it is suggested that sirens control these beasts. Whatever their motivations, they are quite universally feared by those who sail the seas. This creature is featured in the The Witcher 2 in Flotsom and must be defeated. I tis known as the "old man".
