Lubberkins are friendly household guarding spirits created from a botchlings through an elven naming ritual during which they are given a proper name and funeral under the hearth of the family estate. They appear to look the same as botchlings with the main difference being their ghost-like glowing white looks and nonviolent behavior.

In 1272, Geralt met with Velen's self-proclaimed baron Philip Strenger who unwittingly created the botchling from his and Anna Strenger's child. Geralt was faced with a decision to either lift the course via ancient elven naming ritual or kill the beast off "witcher way". If the ritual is completed, the lubberkin - named Dea - helped Geralt to further track down the faith of baron's wife and daughter, Tamara.
