The so-called Free Company was a cavalry unit created from all sort of bandits, renegades, mercenaries, soldiers and others normally considered outcasts in the Lyrian and Rivian Corps which consisted of the backbone of Queen Meve's forces during the second-half of the Second Northern War, after her previous army was completely annihilated during the First battle of Aldersberg. They terrorized the rear of the Nilfgaardian Army and looted their supplies, managing to persist until the end of the war.[1]
Most of the unit's members belonged to the Strays of Spalla, led by Gascon while others were volunteers from Mahakam.[2]
