Archmaster Mardin of Rakverelin was a mage and the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs at Ban Ard Sorcerer's School. It was he who informed the Chancellor of the Academy of the exploits of students Vidar Holgersson, Hoster Wythcliff and Cammle Torrel the Younger, following a lecture from occassional guest orator Dorregaray. In the wake of the trio's drunken excesses at the Three Spruces inn in the city of Ban Ard, and their subsequent arrest by the Ban Ard city guard, it was Mardin that had to deal with the torrent of complaints lodged against the school.
