Margarita Laux-Antille, also known is Rita, was a mage who took Tissaia's position as director of Aretuza.
Biography[]
Thanedd ball[]
Margarita and Sabrina ran into Ciri at the Gors Velen market, where Rita mistook her for one of her runaway students and wanted to punish her until Yennefer appeared, who explained the situation and invited them to the Silver Heron. As the women enjoyed the bath pools, Rita demanded that Ciri serve the wine. When Ciri got mad about this, Yennefer pointed out that Rita was beyond Ciri's notice and that Ciri's royal ancestry didn't change that.
Rita later attended the Thanedd ball that was held before a large conclave. After the Thanedd coup, she helped found the Lodge of Sorceresses.
Searching for Vilgefortz[]
Rita, alongside Sabrina, Triss, Keira, and Giancardi, all take refuge in Giancardi's bank as an angry mob vents their rage outside by the bank gates, blaming them for starting the war with Nilfgaard.
Although frustrated that they were being blamed for something they had no part in, they awaited Yennefer's safe return. Once she's seen, the mages decide to let her in, and Giancardi offers to open the gateway for her. However, Yennefer was distracted by a mage who impersonated Vilgefortz.
Now outside, Giancardi opens the gate, and Keira tries to hold back the mob threatening to use her magic against them, but an unknown woman riles the mob to kill her. Hence, Keira was fatally stabbed, and Giancardi was killed after being slammed into the bank gateway.
Afterward, Yennefer managed to enter the bank, having captured the woman who riled up the mob, whom Triss recognized as Burnita. Determined to discover Vilgefortz's location, Yennefer decides to probe Burnita's mind to locate the rogue mage. Though Rita and the other mages try to dissuade her from doing it, she insists on it and, for hours, tries and only manages to extract little information from Burnita's mind.
Trying again, but now with the assistance of her fellow mages channeling their magic into Yennefer, she tries to bend Burnita's mind again, only for Vilgefortz to intercept it and mind control Burnita. He relays a message to Yennefer offering her to join his side, but she refuses, making Vilgefortz sever his connection with Burnita, which immediately kills her. With a new resolve to locate and kill Vilgefortz, Yen tells her fellow mages that she intends to deal with Vilgefortz with an army.
Battle at Montecalvo[]
Margarita goes to Montecalvo to recruit sorceresses, including Francesca, whom Margarita briefly distrusts since the Thanned incident.
Margarita later trained with the others to prepare herself to protect and fight against Vilgefortz, bringing the last novices of Aretuza to seek asylum. However, she did not agree to let them fight because they were not warriors.
Margarita was hit by a knife by Jocephus of Muroc while fighting against Vilgefortz's forces, trying to protect the novices.
