Maugrim was a monster created by Eira Frostsinger, a powerful Gemmeran sorceress. It looked like a werewolf, but was much more powerful - it was 3 meters tall, incredibly muscular and lightning fast. It was said that it could tear a man's arm off like the leg off a roast chicken.
The Maugrim started attacking folks around the capital; the six night guards and eleven out of the twelve heavy warriors armed with torrwr all ended up dead. The remaining soldier named the culprit and alerted the King to the great danger.
The King called for Gerring of Kharkiv, a witcher from the School of the Viper. After setting his price, he headed up the mountain to confront the sorceress and beast. At their clash, the witcher found himself outmatched. He blinded Maugrim with a bomb, retreating into a small, dwarven mine, where he forged a new silver sword overnight. The same night he snuck back into Eira's cave, where he slit her throat in her sleep. His fight with Maugrim wasn't nearly as easy - but in the next morning, Gerring returned victorious, carrying the head of both beast and sorceress.[1]
