Biography[]
Past[]
Mistle came from a high-born family in Thurn, a region in northern Maecht. She was betrothed to Lord Genzier of Ebbing, who was leading a rebellion against Nilfgaard. Her family was proud for her, but Mistle was secretly in love with her handmaiden, Juniper.
On the eve of her wedding, a mercenary named Bert Brigden, who infiltrated villages seeking to quell rebellions to Emperor Emhyr, led a brutal attack that destroyed Mistle's family and kidnapped Juniper. Mistle and Asse managed to escape. Traumatized, she was convinced Juniper was dead.
At some point, they met other war orphans and became the gang, the Rats.
A dangerous job in Rocayne[]
Meeting with Ciri[]
In Gors Velen, Mistle attends a beast show where a basilisk will be displayed. In the crowd, she secretly steals from the other visitors and also takes Ciri's knife and wallet. The supposed basilisk is actually a wyvern that escapes from its cage, causing mass panic. Mistle throws the knife at Ciri so she can kill the beast. Mistle then congratulates her, but keeps the stolen money for herself.
A few days later, Mistle and Ciri cross paths again. Bounty hunters have captured Mistle's friend Kayleigh and want to collect a reward for him. Mistle and her friends Iskra, Giselher, Reef, and Asse attack the inn where Kayleigh and Ciri are being held captive. All the bounty hunters are killed, and Ciri joins the group under the name "Falka".
Traveling with a new crew member[]
Mistle and her fellow Rats escape from a bar where they caused trouble, and ride on horseback to a safe location. It's there that Falka expresses her desire to part ways with the group, but doesn't know where to go. The Rats all suggest directions she can head toward, but Giselher suggests that Falka wait until daybreak, when she does. As the Rats walk away, Mistle gifts Falka a curved knife.
Afterward, Mistle and the rest of the Rats enjoy themselves at a dimly lit bar where Mistle joins Falka at her table and engages in a heart-to-heart with her. They talk about how they first met and then segue to Mistle talking about her Rat mates, until Kayleigh arrives and takes Falka to the floor to dance with her.
Later that night, Mistle intervenes when Kayleigh tries to take advantage of Falka in the back of a wagon. With Kayleigh gone, Mistle consoles Falka and asks if she should leave, but Falka insists that she stay, and the two then kiss.
The next morning, Falka awakens and sees Mistle sleeping beside her. A little later, Mistle awakens and finds Falka by a lake and tells her that the Rats will be heading out soon, and asks if she'll be parting ways with them, but Falka denies it.
The botched heist[]
Mistle, alongside Kayleigh and Reef, breaks into the tax collector's home, where Mistle successfully breaks into the wardrobe containing the tax collector's gold. However, several botches nearly cause the heist to fail, and when their cover is blown, they're forced to escape. During the escape, Falka assists Mistle by attacking the guards who tried to attack her.
On the wagon, Mistle witnesses as Falka offloads the gold the Rats had stolen during their last heist as a way to prevent the tax collector's guards from catching up to them.
That night, the Rats take refuge in a dark, locked building, where most vent their disdain at what Falka did to get the guards off their tails. However, Mistle tried to mediate the situation, telling them all to stop, and Falka chimes in, stating that if she didn't act, Mistle would have died. Falka then rebukes them for each botching the heist in their own way and takes her leave, with Mistle following her.
Outside, Falka and Mistle have a heart-to-heart about the dangers of going out alone, despite Falka saying she can handle herself, Mistle states that the guards prefer action over talking. Falka suggests that Mistle join her, but Mistles states that the Rats are her family. As the two were about to kiss, someone spotted them, and Falka decided to go to bed for the night alone.
The following morning, Mistle and the other Rats awaken to the noise outside, which they assume is an angry mob. However, to their surprise, the mob wasn't angry at all, but a group of admirers who were thankful for the Rats returning the money that the tax collector had taken from them.
Eventually, in the outskirts around the town, it's decided that Falka officially joins the Rats.
Attending a festival[]
Hiding behind a brushy thicket of branches with Falka, Istra, and Kayleigh, the four spring into action when Giselher pushes over a tree to block the pathway of an oncoming carriage. Mistle and the other Rats then pilfer the belongings of the carriage owner, the daughter of the Nilfgaardian baron of Casadei named Gilda Adelina Everill Emengar. As told by Reef that reinforcements were on their way, Mistle pleads with Falka to flee the scene with them, but Falka cuts the long braid off of Gilda's head as a keepsake.
Afterward, the Rats enjoy themselves at a festival, where Mistle pairs with Falka for it, and briefly Kayleigh, who tries to warn Mistle about Falka. However, Mistle refuses to listen to Kayleigh and takes Falka away from a guy who was trying to flirt with her.
While waiting in line for something, Mistle and Falka have a heart-to-heart about their recent robbery, and amid it, Falka pilfers a satchel of coins from a nobleman. Unbeknownst to the two, a few men watched them from afar.
Sometime later, Mistle played a ball-tossing game, and Falka spotted Giselher speaking to Hotspurn with Kayleigh. Their comrades' conversation with the unknown person alarmed Falka, but Mistle told Falka not to pay mind to it and led Falka elsewhere.
At a tattoo parlor, Mistle receives a tattoo of a rose on her thigh, and when Falka wants to get a matching one, three thugs barge into the place looking to collect a bounty on Falka's head. Falka would make short work of the men and, without skipping a beat, prepared herself to get the matching tattoo that she wanted.
The two sleep together, and Falka awakens from a bad dream that she explains to Mistle, who reciprocates, citing her own personal experience with her two brothers. As their heart-to-heart continues, Mistle asks Falka what she wants, and Falka answers that she does not want to be alone. The response leads to the two passionately kissing.
Meanwhile, Skellen hires Leo to hunt and kill all of the Rats, including Falka.
A new wanted poster and learning more about Falka[]
Mistle duels against Giselher in a knife stabbing contest and wins. She, along with the other Rats, then learns from Asse that a new wanted poster of them has been issued and now features Ciri. The Rats celebrate this, but Kayleigh's remark damps the mood when he mentions Rocayne. Iskra and Asse then explain to Ciri what happened there, and not wanting to focus on the past, Giselher announces that they have a new job delivering a package. Although Kayleigh wanted to leave Ciri behind, Ciri insisted on being involved, stating she was a Rat too.
Later, Mistle joins Ciri in her room as she cuts her hair and has a heart-to-heart with Ciri about her desire to disappear and how the Rats like her.
Afterward, Mistle leads Ciri to a cavern where they discover a greylock infected with a glowing worm parasite. Amid the skirmish between Ciri and the greylock, Ciri yanks the parasite out of the beast.
Outside, the two sit by a log, where Mistle has a heart-to-heart with Ciri about how she was saved by a witcher named Brehen, who wanted to save a princess but failed. The task was then given to Geralt, whom Ciri calls out to in her dreams. Ciri becomes defensive, and Mistle notes that she wants Ciri to be honest with her, claiming she didn't just manifest herself in Glyswen weeks before. Mistle also notes that Ciri has the vocabulary and interest of a nobleman. Confessing that she knows Geralt and Yennefer, Ciri admits to Mistle that loving them had caused them immense pain and that they are better off without her. The two then share a passionate kiss with each other.
