Disambig icon This article is about the monoliths in Netflix's The Witcher. For The Witcher game's obelisks, see Monolith. For the quest in the same game, see Monoliths.

Monoliths are tall, black stone-like structures found throughout the Continent. They are made of an unusual substance called stellacite that's so hard, it takes a generation to even put a dent in it.

It's later revealed that Ciri's powers can topple and shatter these monoliths, revealing they're portals into other realms. Her screams can also call forth entirely new monsters like the chernobog, an unusual leshy, and a myriapod.

Many centuries ago, Balor tried to obtain more power using such a monolith and to harness Chaos. He was stopped by Zacaré and Syndril, with the latter sacrificing himself to end Balor. However, as the mages were near a monolith and using power from it, the resulting explosion brought forth the Conjunction of the Spheres.
