Nests

There are a number of monster nests scattered about the various regions in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They are often found close to abandoned sites and typically require the use of a bomb to destroy the nest (or nests) to stop the monsters from regenerating and allow the population to return. Bombs which do the trick are: dancing star, grapeshot and samum.

Monster nests spawn one type of monster, normally based on the area it is located in. When destroyed, that often causes a stronger variation of the chosen monster to appear as a final "boss" enemy. Loot may be obtained from these nests by heading to the nest once a bomb (or other force on some occasions) has destroyed it. This loot varies between what type of monster you fought, particularly in that most of it will be items droppable by the corresponding creature, but all may have random runestones and glyphs.
