Mutagen Substances Small Hydragenum

Mutagen is a substance obtained from the bodies of mutants and armored hounds. Despite being called a "mutagen", this ingredient is not used in any of the "mutagenic potions". It is also one of the least common ingredients in the game. There is a possibility of finding some in Act I, if Geralt chose to fight the frightener in the Prologue, but otherwise this item is not found until Act V.

Notes

  • Special ingredients are also referred to as "mutagens". These ingredients are entirely unrelated to the mutagen described above and are required to make mutagenic potions.

In The Witcher 2, mutagens are powerful mutation-triggered agents. They allow you to raise your abilities even further. Mutagens can be acquired in two ways: you can loot them from defeated enemy corpses or you can create them using alchemy. To undergo mutation, enter meditation and them select the "Character" option and find an ability with a mutagen slot. Mutations cannot be reversed.

Mutagens usually take one of three forms: lesser, basic and greater. Each of these forms raises Geralt's statistics by different amounts.
