Never Trust Children is an unmarked secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This quest has two parts where one takes place in Novigrad while the other in Skellige.
Important: this quest is proximity sensitive and once the marker appears on the map, will disappear if you leave the area. This means if you're at a too low level you should avoid these areas until you can face the bandits. Note that the quest needs to either be completed or let the child run off/don't follow to let the quest disappear to allow Hidden Messages of the Nilfgaardian Kind to become available.
Walkthrough[]
Novigrad[]
Next to the Crooked house in The Bits, you can find a child crying but if you try to approach, they'll run off. Follow them a short distance to where several bandits are waiting to ambush you. After dealing with the bandits, the child will be nowhere to be found and the quest will end.
Skellige[]
On the road between Arinbjorn and Sund, you'll find a child calling for help. If you talk to them, the boy will tell you his father was attacked by a bear while cutting wood. He'll then walk to the side of the road and runs off as a group of thugs come out to ambush you. Like in Novigrad, the child is nowhere to be seen afterwards. Note that at this location you can actually find the thugs beforehand, in which case you don't need to interact with the child.
