Races: Swift as the Western Winds is a secondary quest in the Hearts of Stone expansion.
Walkthrough[]
This is a simple horse race that you can complete at any time. Go speak to the Ofieri merchant at Upper Mill and mention what a fine horse he has. He will challenge you to a race. During the race, watch out for a merchant that drops barrels!
Dodge them to avoid being slowed down and you may also want to avoid goats on the last leg of the race near the bridge. The last bridge, like some in other races, may cause Roach to stop her gallop, but attempting to jump at it seems to avoid the issue. Win the race to earn 100 
and an Ofieri stock saddle that offers +85 stamina for Roach.
Journal entry[]
- Northeast of Novigrad Geralt stumbled across a small camp of Ofieri travelers. Geralt struck up a conversation with one of their number and the topic of discussion turned to horses. Before he knew it, he'd agreed to a race to test whose mare was the swiftest. Had he been to eager in his boasting? Could Roach really go neck and neck with a fabled Ofieri steed? Time would soon tell!
- Roach emerged the victor, and Geralt was able to bask in her glory. The Ofieri merchant took his loss with tremendous grace and awarded the winning horse and rider an excellent saddle.

- Defeat the Ofieri merchant in a horse race.

- Winning the race as early as possible is very benefical as it renders nearly all other saddles obsolete and well prepares Roach for all other races.
