Sheepbagger (Polish: Kozojed) was a cobbler from Barefield who took part in the hunt for the legendary golden dragon, Villentretenmerth. As a child he was a sheep herder. It was his idea to poison the dragon who had been stealing sheep. He was killed and later eaten by Villentretenmerth.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings[]
While Geralt and Triss are inspecting the wreck of the Petra Silie to gather information on the kayran, they stumble upon the remains of "a ram stuffed with sulfur and a dead cobbler — straight out of eastern legends". A direct reference to Sheepbagger's method of dragon disposal.
Notes[]
- Sheepbagger seems to have been directly inspired by Skuba, a cobbler's apprentice living in early medieval Kraków who, according to legend, slew the dragon of Wawel Hill by feeding it a lamb stuffed with sulphur, giving it such a thirst that it drank from the Wisła River until it burst.
