Sword in the Stone is a quest in The Witcher: Monster Slayer.
Walkthrough[]
The quest is started by:
- buying a map from Lothar for 500 coins
- getting a map after sparing Lothar in The Dark Side of the Full Moon quest
- finding the map after killing/chasing away Lothar in The Dark Side of the Full Moon quest
After looking at the map, go to the marked location. Thorstein helps you read the inscription: you must come to the sword at dusk to learn its name. The game has a built-in clock showing the beginning of the times of the day, which you need to pay attention to in the next stage.
Upon returning at dusk, you can read the name of the sword - Dawnbringer. In order to draw the sword, you need to return at dawn, as indicated by the in-game clock.
At dawn, you speak the name and the Guardian of the Sword - a stone golem, appears. The golem is a mid level monster, so using Dimeritium bomb and elemental oil is a good idea. After defeating the guardian, you receive the sword as a trophy.
Journal entry[]
- I received a map from Lothar. He told me it'd lead me to a treasure, so I thought I should investigate.
- I found a sword that was somehow trapped in a large boulder. No amount of human - or witcher-strength could pull it from the stone. However, Thorstein and I deduced that at sunset, the sword's name would appear and that we should speak the name at sunrise.
- When I returned to the stone at dusk, I saw that some of the inscription letters were glowing. They spelled out the sword's name - Deitmenae. Dawnbringer.
- At dawn I spoke the name. Wasn't too surprised when the rock turned out to be a dormant golem. I defeated it and took the sword, a nice piece of quality eleven steel.
Notes[]
- Different quest stages can be completed on different days, for example: you visit the location at dusk and return in 3 days at dawn.
- You can repeat the golem stage as many times as it takes for you to succeed.
