Talgar, formerly a kingdom and now a margraviate of Kovir and Poviss, lies at the foot of the Dragon Mountains. It has been the homeland to several members of the House of Thyssen since Godamba Thaess'en was knighted by its contemporaneous King.
Due to the strong local position of the House's branches, Talgar became a shelter to the young former prince Esterad Thyssen and a large number of exiles still loyal to him after the events of the Secession of Poviss and the following events which led to the collapse of East March. During this time the country was ruled by Lady Bernika who took power after escaping from a mage tower in which she was imprisoned due to the suspicions of being afflicted with The Curse of the Black Sun. Her reign was rather strict - rumor had it that the most seen part of the Talgarian landscape were the gallows.[1]
In the far future, the weather has changed enough that northern regions, like Talgar, Caingorn, and Kaedwen, are no longer able to grow certain types of produce due to the colder climate.[2]

Notes
- In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings there is a monster trap called Talgar winter.
- It is jokingly said that the winter there lasts from September to May, the other seasons include spring and fall, and that summer begins on the first Tuesday after the August new moon ending the following Wednesday morning.

- ↑ It is worth noting that the source of this rumor was the mage Stregobor. As an adherent of King Idi, he held Esterad's shelterers in rather less than warm regard.
