Geralt can find out that Berengar is still alive in act 2. After siding with Yaevinn in Force Recon, in one of the dialogue paths, (for a successful outcome at least), Yaevinn tells Geralt he asked around and discovered Berengar was alive, (can't recall exact line). I assume the same information may be gleaned from the Order, and I am fairly certain Vaska says something to that effect also after you help the brickmaker's.
Preventing Berrengar's Death[]
I figured I may as well post how I prevented Berrengar's death in the duel with Azar, just in case someone is having trouble with it. Just before the Greater Brothers, use some diamond dust to sharpen your sword (dealing damage faster means less time for Berrengar to lose HP) and use your Swallow if you think you have to (you probably don't). Then when you are in the middle of dueling the brothers, after one is dead and possibly after having injured the second, drink a Blizzard, kill the second brother quickly, and right after you land the last blow, switch to fast style (steel of course, as you should have been using) so you can make sure you get right into it when the fight starts. I skipped the dialogue just in case it counted against the Blizzard time. Then when you get a chance to attack Azar, go up to the second combo level (sometimes only the first) and immediately after knock him down with an air/Aard sign. Rinse and repeat until he's dead. You might need to still have Magic Ritual on you for this to work. If it is necessary and you lost it already, you can go back outside and get it again. If you don't have much magic, you could always use Tawny Owl.
I'm sure there are many other ways to save Berrengar, but that's how I did it. Actually, it was a pretty short fight like that. 66.215.189.121 10:56, June 29, 2011 (UTC)
- It's just a bit of a let down that you can't even speak to him after. There's no reward for keeping him alive. — Game widow (talk) 11:12, June 29, 2011 (UTC)
Witcher 2?[]
So we know that Berengar doesn't have much to say if you save him, but do we now that does this effect withcer 2, or even witcher 3? Has anyone ever tried that?
