The Caretaker's spade is a secondary weapon in the Hearts of Stone expansion.
This spade is used by the monstrosity known as the Caretaker. After he's dead, you have to pick this up from beside his body (the body itself isn't lootable).
Upon landing a successful attack on an enemy, this weapon heals Geralt for 10% of the damage inflicted by the attack. Flashes of green energy accompany strikes with this weapon.
No upgrade slots can be added to this.

- It can't be displayed in Corvo Bianco in the Blood and Wine expansion.
- Oils cannot be applied to the weapon.
- Either due to a bug or intentional, some have reported that as long as it's not looted from The Caretaker's body, the weapon will level with the player's current level once it is finally looted (for example, if the quest is done at level 37 but not looted until the player is around level 50, the shovel will have stats reflected for level 50).
