The Choice was the first of three incredibly painful trials that young witcher apprentices were subjected to. It consisted mainly of a voluntary decision to follow the special witcher diet which consists of mushrooms, mosses and herbs and grueling physical training. Many did not survive the trial, succumbing to liver or heart failure and sometimes madness, many with being left with excessively aggressive tendencies. The trial was performed in the witchers' laboratory at Kaer Morhen.
