The Dark Side of the Full Moon is a quest in The Witcher: Monster Slayer.
Walkthrough[]
The quest can only be started during a full moon. Go to the blacksmith's forge at night, where you find claw marks. You need to follow the monster's trail and save Lothar.
After reaching the place where the tracks lead, it turns out that the blacksmith himself is a werewolf. If you talk to him, he reveals a handful of information about the nature of his curse.
- Sparing the werewolf - Lothar will return to his forge after the full moon, and as a reward, he will give you a map to the location of a unique sword.
- Killing/chasing away the werewolf - Lothar is replaced by a dwarven blacksmith offering the same services.
- In order to withstand the fight, you need to prepare accordingly by using a cursed one oil, potions like Thunderblot and Cat or a Moon Dust bomb. It's better to use a good silver sword, since the werewolf is a strong opponent.
After completing the quest, you will receive the The Werewolf's Lot trinket and Lothar's notes.
Journal entry[]
- The smithy was suspiciously empty when I stopped by. The anvil was still radiating warmth, and I spotted werewolf prints nearby. Noting that the moon was full, I decided to investigate this lead and followed the tracks.
- If Lothar is spared
- The werewolf turned out to be the blacksmith. He promised me that he could control the beast within, thanks to an infusion of wolfsbane. I believed him and let him go free.
- THE WITCHER DECIDED THAT LOTHAR POSED NO REAL DANGER AND SET HIM FREE. THOUGH THE BLACKSMITH'S FATE WAS HARDLY ENVIABLE, THE MAN DID HIS BEST TO LIVE WITH HUMAN DIGNITY. PROVING WEREWOLVES DIDN'T ALWAYS SUCCUMB TO THE BEAST WITHIN.
- Lothar thanked me with a treasure map. I offered to help him lift the curse, but he wasn't interested - apparently, it had already been tried. The secret of his lycanthropy would stay between us.
Notes[]
- This quest must be started and completed during a full moon, at night time. If you wait or linger till dawn, you get a message that the trail is lost and the quest will fail.
- It is possible to complete the quest the night after it starts, but it still has to be a full moon.
- If Lothar is spared, one slot in the glossary will remain blank, since it's intended for the new blacksmith.
