The Four Faces of Hemdall is an unmarked secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The XP earned based on the Story and Swords! difficulty level rewarded in this quest is unaffected by difficulty level.

Walkthrough[]

Northwest of Trottheim on Faroe Isle you'll come across a shrine being blocked by several pirates, who refuse to let a pilgrim pass unless they pay. Approach and a few choices can be made:

  • pay 20 Oren3. They'll make some remarks but ultimately let you and the pilgrim through without incident (also gives 2 XP earned based on the Story and Swords! difficulty level)
  • threaten them (will lead to a fight)
  • be attacked (this happens if Hammond was killed during the secondary quest Following the Thread, in which case they'll recognize Geralt)

Regardless of how they're dealt with, the pilgrim will thank you and can tell you about Hemdall if you wish. You'll then earn 50 XP earned based on the Story and Swords! difficulty level and the quest will end.

Notes[]

  • There are three Hemdall shrines across Faroe that can be prayed at (you have to climb up the shrines to the statues to do so). The three are:
    • the northern shrine (the one the pirates are blocking)
    • the western shrine, located right next to the Place of Power
    • the central southern shrine, south of the hidden treasure marker
  • There's also an obelisk with the same markings in the central part of the island but it can't be interacted with.
