The Most Truest of Basilisks is an unmarked secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The rewarded in this quest is unaffected by the ±5 level constraint and difficulty level.
Walkthrough[]
Just outside of Oxenfurt, northeast of Novigrad Gate and southwest of the Herbalist's Hut, a Beast Tamer advertises a "basilisk" to a group of Redanian soldiers. In actuality, it's a young, ill-fed wyvern.
You can inquire further about this "basilisk" if you wish, or just go straight to pointing out it's not one. Once it's pointed out that it's a wyvern, the soldiers start to realize the man's a cheat and move to take him when the cage suddenly breaks and the wyvern gets out. Kill it to complete the quest.

Notes[]
- Once the fight begins, the Beast Tamer will take off running towards Novigrad Gate where he will cower in fear behind a small building. Geralt can follow him until he stops running, but will not be able to interact with him.
- This quest is a reference to a scene in Time of Contempt, where it was Ciri pointing out that it was a wyvern before the cage broke.
